From the Pastor:
Jesus is risen! He has conquered evil and death!
The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
This is the Lord’s doing, it is marvelous in our eyes. Psalm 118:22-23.
Through the Easter season, we joyfully celebrate the good news that Jesus (who was scorned, rejected, and crucified on Good Friday) has conquered sin and death, risen from the dead and indeed become the chief cornerstone of God’s new kingdom. The barren winter of Lent has melted into the lush landscape of Easter spring. This marvel is the Lord’s doing.
As Christians we are called to be participants in the Kingdom of God. We are invited to open ourselves to God’s new life, and in turn, share the grace of this new life with a world that is in continuous need of renewal. We look with joy at the Easter story! We look forward with hope to the fulfillment of God’s reign. And we work diligently and joyfully in the present joining God’s unfolding vision of the Kingdom. Hallelujah!
The Education Committee would like help identifying all those graduating from high school, college or university in 2011. Please leave a note in the Sunday school mailbox with the graduate’s name, school name and diploma or degree received. Thank you.
Baptism and Membership - If you are interested in baptism or transferring your membership to AMC talk to Dan Kehler or any one from the Spiritual Advisory Committee. A service of baptism is planned for June 12.
The Worship Committee has decided to add a new resource to our music making…Sing the Story. We’ve been using songs from it for quite some time, and it’s time to purchase a set for AMC. In your mailbox you will find an order form you can fill out if you wish to sponsor a copy (or more) for the congregation. The cheque, if you use one, should be made out to AMC with a notation that it’s for Sing the Story. You may give your order to Andrea Hildebrand or Rudy Krahn. Thank you.
Helping Pakistan Build A Brighter Tomorrow - Every Sunday the Sunday school kids have been bringing in money to go towards helping the flood victims of Pakistan. They have done a fabulous job. So far they have raised over $700. Way to go! This project will run for a few more months. Our goal is to open this up to the rest of the congregation. Ways to contribute: Every $20 raised adds a paper sun to the display. You can buy a sun for $20 or put your donation of your choice into the container at the back of the church. Any questions please talk to Sandra Klassen, Kim Batchelor, or Lorrie Wiebe. Thank you for your support. The Missions and Services Committee
AMC 50th Anniversary Planning Committee - It’s time to dig through those old photo albums, boxes of pictures or slides or your computer files in search of pictures that will help to tell the story of AMC’s 50 years. Pictures or memorabilia of Christmas concerts, church picnics, retreats, baptisms, special services or events, youth events or service projects would be welcome. The pictures will become part of a large display on the weekend celebrations, August 10-12, 2012. Please label pictures carefully so we can identify the people and events, and so that we can return them after the weekend. Items may be placed in Dave Regehr’s mailbox or emailed to dhregehr @yahoo.ca.
The Sunday School children will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Rhineland Area Food Bank during our worship service on the first Sunday of each month. Please remember to donate!
Coffee, scripture and discussion group will meet Tuesday mornings at 10:30 am at AMC. All are invited. Please read the scripture below to
prepare for discussion.
